Aaaaaahhh...we meet again! There was a bit of a delay in posting (little thing called honeymoon lol) and I'm back to continue my story. By the way, while we were in Nashville, check out who we ran into :)
I was so star-struck, I couldn't take a pic with him LOL
Last blog, I told you that my birth mother's ex husband's wife (what? lol) came into the optical shop where I was working and we chatted.
Come to find out, I had 3 half siblings from that previous marriage, and one of them WORKED TWO STORES OVER ON THE SAME STREET!!!
I could literally WALK there!!!
And she was a GIRL!!! I have a sister!
You have to understand I was adopted into a family of all boys, 3 of them to be exact, so to have a sister is a VERY amazing thing for me!!
I'm not perfect on the timeline of things (this was over 20 years ago) but my sister came into my store and brought my nieces and nephew in to see me. What a cool kinda deer in the headlights moment. Here's a picture of us at karaoke one night (yep, we both love to sing)
Whatd'ya think? Send me some feedback!!!
FAD Food Is BAD Food!!!
I just took a picture of my screen at this particular moment to show you what I got when I looked up Starbucks Unicorn drink.
Honestly, I can't be a valid health coach without broaching this topic with you right here and now!
First, I'd like to point out that you are much more intelligent than to just go and get something that physically hurts your body just because "everyone's doing it."
"It's all the rage"
"Limited time only"
"Did you get yours??"
You DO know that the reason it's only available for a few days is to CREATE this drive in you...it's called MARKETING. Brilliant, I must say. They made a ton of money...
Not so brilliant for your body tho. 18 grams of fat, 11 of that SATURATED.... SEVENTY SIX GRAMS OF SUGAR - That's equivalent to about half a TUB of icecream!!!
It's not the first of its kind tho... McDonalds has it's Shamrock Shake, and it comes in at almost the same amount of everything!
I am here to help you see PAST the gimmick! I want you to understand exactly what happens to your body when you actively take in refined sugar in great amounts. I've found the perfect article that breaks it down for you:
When you see what sugar does TO you, you'll understand why when people say "You Only Live Once" when rationalizing a purchase like this, I think "Yeah, and during that time, I don't want to assault my body!!"
It's not "Cool" to actively hurt yourself.
Here's the deal: Next time someone puts out something crazy unhealthy, just don't buy it. They only do this crap because of supply and demand. Maybe one day, if we start standing up for our bodies and demanding healthy treats, there will be a cashew keylime pie available "for a limited time only" MMmmmm!
Coincidentally, I did find a health and wellness page that teaches how to make actually healthy unicorn drinks! If that interests you, check this out:
